Six Speed (Not This Time), coming off a runner-up effort in the Mar. 28 G2 UAE Derby, tuned up for Saturday's GI Kentucky Derby with a four-furlong drill in :48.80 (12/24) Monday at Churchill Downs.

With exercise rider Declan Cannon in the irons, the colt covered his opening furlong in :13.20, reached the quarter-mile in :25 and galloped out six furlongs in 1:01.60.

“We're not going to change too much in the Derby,” trainer Bhupat Seemar said. “He's a horse that likes to be up there. If they go fast, he'll go faster. On the other hand, this horse has a deep pedigree. He has that Phipps family pedigree where there's a lot of stamina in it. We'll find out–if you don't do it, you'll never know.”

Six Speed, who won the G3 UAE 2000 Guineas in January, is out of stakes winner Browse (Medaglia d'Oro), who is a daughter of multiple Grade I-placed Daydreaming (A.P. Indy) and a half-sister to Grade I winner Imagining (Giant's Causeway). His third dam is blue hen mare Get Lucky (Mr. Prospector).

Brian Hernandez Jr., who won the 2024 Derby aboard Mystik Dan, has the mount Saturday and will break from post 17.
